SUCCESS!

Saturday, September 26, 2009 was a HUGE success as the community of Sylvan Lake pulled together with the Berg family to construct a new playground.
An enormous thank you goes out to all of the volunteers to offered their time, services and expertise over the weekend. Also, to the Sylvan Lake Legion and Sylvan Agencies for donating $1000 each to the playground; and finally, thank you to the Berg family. The Berg family contributed a whopping $5000 to the James Berg Memorial Park. It was an honor to have you in our community and we are proud to have a park dedicated to such an outstanding (and missed) resident.
Be sure to check out the playground site often as it is improving a little each and every day!

Our Fallen Hero

As you may know, Let Them Be Kids asked that we name the park after a local fallen hero. After a brief discussion we came to a quick, unanimous decision and we are very excited to announce the name of the new playground as the James Berg Memorial Park. James was a dedicated volunteer who put a great deal of time and effort into the youth of our community. Not only was he an incredible football coach, he was an adored employee, a respected Chamber of Commerce member, and an overall admired resident. When we told the Berg family that the park would be named after James his mother said, "He loved Sylvan Lake. Now it will be his home forever."

Please join us on September 26, 2009 as we remember our fallen hero by building the James Berg Memorial Park. To volunteer, please click the Join the Effort button on the right hand side of this page.

Designer Day kicks things into Gear!

Yesterday we hosted the Designer Day where neighbors came together to say what they would like to see in the new and improved Tot-Lot. The children who attended were most pleased that they were able to put their two cents in by placing stickers on the equipment they would like to play on in the near future. Between the crafts, the Kool-Aid and the company - a good time was had by all. Thank you to everyone who contributed their ideas. Please SIGN UP to help us with Build Day, which is happening on September 26!

We're SO excited!

We're gearing up to rebuild one of the town's tot-lots and we need your help! We're asking the children of our community to bring their parents to the tot-lot located on 48th Avenue (just down from the Police Station) on Monday, August 10 between 1 pm - 3:30 pm. Please bring your ideas, friends and enthusiasm -- we can't wait to work with you!
