Saturday, September 26, 2009 was a HUGE success as the community of Sylvan Lake pulled together with the Berg family to construct a new playground. An enormous thank you goes out to all of the volunteers to offered their time, services and expertise over the weekend. Also, to the Sylvan Lake Legion and Sylvan Agencies for donating $1000 each to the playground; and finally, thank you to the Berg family. The Berg family contributed a whopping $5000 to the James Berg Memorial Park. It was an honor to have you in our community and we are proud to have a park dedicated to such an outstanding (and missed) resident.
Be sure to check out the playground site often as it is improving a little each and every day!

It was TRULY an awesome day. We had such a great time and continue to be honored by such a remarkable gesture.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to add one thing to the write up - the $5,060 that was donated by 'the berg family' was a joint effort from a fund raising poker tournament called the Jimmy Pop PIE held 2 weeks before and generous donations from Kevin Gurr, Brenda Gurr, and the Gregg Shute Memorial fund courtesy of Dana Morgan - not to mention a few other thoughtful donations from family and friends in the spirit of the event.
